Take a trip to Millennium Hobbies and The Gundam Kitchen

Located in Blackwood, NJ, Millennium Hobbies and The Gundam Kitchen is an interesting place. Living up to the name of “The Gundam Kitchen,” the store has everything you need when it comes to putting together Gundam figures.

The store’s merchandise goes beyond just Gundams though. The store has other sorts of merchandise that you can put together, as well as pins, magnets, manga, and board games such as Krosmaster Quest, among other things.

When I personally went, I picked up some Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Pins, as well as a Gurren Lagann magnet.

On top of all this, the store even has some snacks available for customers.

To see more of what the store has to offer, you can check out their website, their Facebook page, and some photos from my time there. As always folks, stay tuned for more content on the way.

Take a trip to Play With This Toys

Located in Merchantville, NJ, Play With This Toys and it’s owner Scott have been a fixture in New Jersey’s toy collecting community for quite some time.

Retro Station’s owner Jerry likened Scott’s success, as well as that of Frankenstein Comic’s owner Bill Bead, as to having the “Willy Wonka Quotient.”

In that time, Scott has accumulated a vast and impressive collection of toys. To give you guys a small taste, the store’s inventory includes Star Wars, Transformers, Batman, GI Joe, Godzilla, Ultraman and more.

Not only does Play With This Toys contain a wide array of toys, but what impressed me as well is the depth of the collection. Walking through the store almost feels like walking through a museum in that you can all sorts of different toys from different time periods.

Take, for instance, all the different Batman toys on display in the store.

Adding on to this, the store’s Star Wars collection goes above and beyond figures, including everything from books to mugs and even patches.

Take a Trip to Plunder Palace

Located right nearby Chick’s Deli in Cherry Hill, NJ, Plunder Palace is a relatively new store in the area. Home to a diverse collection of merchandise, Plunder Palace has everything from older comics to a Tekken Arcade Machine and vinyls/CDs in the store. There is even more interesting merchandise in the back of the store,  with one example that Plunder Palace’s owner Mark showed me was this Anthrax/Judge Dredd crossover poster.

Although a majority of the merchandise is older, that doesn’t mean Plunder Palace exclusively sells older merchandise. An example of this is while at Cherry Hill Public Library’s Comic Con, Plunder Palace’s had a significant amount of space dedicated to Funko Pops. Adding to this, Mark said that there will be new comics on Wednesday’s in the near future.

Take a Trip to Retro Station

Located next door to Frankenstein Comics in Woodbury, NJ, Retro Station is a treasure trove of older collectibles. Retro Station’s inventory spans across all aspects of pop culture, with items from franchises such as GI Joe, Star Wars, and The Wizard of Oz.

Retro Station is an interesting case to me because of how the store has evolved over the years. According to owner Jerry DeMaio, the first inception of Retro Station in a brick and mortar fashion was in a 100 sq. ft. space in Mullica Hill, NJ. The store would go on to move to a slightly bigger space and then to where there the store is currently located now.

With the extra space that they have, Retro Station has rented out a portion of the store to Raiders of the Lost Toys. The addition of Raiders of the Lost Toys is interesting in that it allows Retro Station’s store to cover a wider timeline of toys, with Raiders of the Lost Toys focusing on newer toys.

Retro Station also features a section of toys specifically for girls, something which isn’t  found in most stores according to DeMaio.

Adding onto this, Retro Station also has a music section with vinyl records from the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Van Halen, and KISS, as well as various types of guitars for sale.
